Altamont Augie
Altamont Augie is a startlingly vivid portrayal of one of the most colorful and turbulent periods in recent American history: the 1960s, as seen through the eyes of two ill-fated college lovers at odds over Vietnam. To David Noble, the faltering war in Vietnam is a failure of national honor; to Jackie Lundquist it is a failure of national conscience. But neither her rise to fame as the antiwar movement's alluring Radical Queen nor David's counter-protest activities can extinguish their passion for one another. Their love endures, even while fighting on opposite sides of the defining issue of their time.

Polyxena
A Story of Troy
Polyxena, daughter of King Priam of Troy, on the eve of her execution relates her thoughts to Aphrodite, the goddess she believes orchestrated her fate, trying to find solace in understanding the meaning of her life. In flashback, she reveals her story beginning after the death of Hector when Priam decides to send her daughter to the Amazons to secure their services in defense of Troy, her time with them, and her capture by Achilles after he defeats them and escorts her back home and the two fall in love. Her brothers learn of her love for the enemy and lure Achilles to his death using Polyxena as the bait. Later when Achilles's son, Neoptolemus, comes to fight in Troy and meets Polyxena, he also is smitten by her, but she rejects his love and, as a consequence, is doomed by his actions.

The Spirit of Antoinette
A Gothic Horror Story
Michael Ramseur describes THE SPIRIT OF ANTOINETTE as "a Gothic horror story," but the truly frightening aspects are not the spirits which haunt the State Lunatic Hospital at Danvers, but the depictions of both the modern and the antiquated mental health industries. Psychiatric institutions of the 1920s and the 1980s are disturbingly similar. Though treatment methods may have changed, both are overtaxed and unable to care for those in their charge, despite their best efforts and desires. Ramseur draws on careful research, personal experience, and perhaps his own madness. The line between fiction and history is thin here, which may be this book's most chilling quality.
