| Jeremy Taylor Editor & Administrative Assistant |
I’m Jeremy Taylor, Editor and Administrative Assistant at Substance Books.
As Editor of Substance Books, I edit the content of the company's website, newsletters, and other promotional material. It is my goal to ensure all communication from Substance Books is clear, accurate and informative, and that it meets the highest of editorial standards.
My role as Administrative Assistant involves correspondence with listed authors regarding their promotional projects, account-related issues and various other needs, as well as following up on prospective members’ inquiries regarding the benefits of becoming a part of the Substance Books Network. This helps to free up Hajni's time so that she may focus on new ideas and forums to increase the online publicity power of Substance Books and its authors.
On the side, I’m a poet and playwright, avid traveler, and ardent hockey enthusiast. I was born and raised in Ottawa, have lived in Toronto, Kitchener-Waterloo, Scotland, and Ireland, and now have settled in Montreal’s beautiful Plateau Mont-Royal.
I started with Substance Books as a Marketing Assistant and Literary Scout, and I am very happy in my role with the biggest online book publicity network.

Sarah Fletcher Editor and Administrative Assistant |
As the most recent addition to the Substance Books team, I am excited to be joining the online book publicity industry. My work consists of corresponding with our clients with respect to projects and promotional ventures, as well as editorial work and writing. I graduated from McGill University in the spring of 2006 with a double major in English Literature and Psychology, and am currently working towards a Master's degree in English Literature at the University of Montreal. Having worked as an editorial assistant to a self-published author, I am intimately acquainted with the trials and tribulations of the publishing industry.
I have lived my whole life in Montreal and love the city more with every passing year. Amongst my interests are literature (naturally), travel, and linguistics. I have a penchant for engaging in roundabout philosophical conversations, and a rather nerdy passion for grammar. Activities include poker—Texas Hold 'em—and chess. Amongst my favorite authors are Tom Robbins, Kurt Vonnegut, Jane Austen, Virginia Woolf and Richard Russo.
It is a pleasure to join the team at Substance Books. I hope to have the opportunity to read and review many of our listed authors. Best of luck to you all!

Matt Snell Literary-scout and Editor |
Both my parents were actors-cum-journalists, and I have been steeped in the arts from an early age. I split my time between reading and writing and my passion for odd instruments. I write and perform music in and around Montreal under the band name The Horror Choir, and can sometimes be seen busking around town with my banjo or musical saw.
I grew up in rural Ontario and have a great affection for the outdoors. I have lived in Toronto, Edinburgh, Halifax and have stayed in Montreal for the past five years. I graduated from McGill University with a degree in Humanistic Studies, and am eager to work with original artists new and old. It is my pleasure to be part of Substance Books and wish all authors the best of luck with their books’ publicity.
Cheers!

As a fifth year Honours English Literature student at McGill University aspiring to a career in the publishing industry, I am delighted to be joining Substance Books Inc. as Editor and Literary Research Intern, where I am eager to apply some of the academic knowledge I have acquired at university in a professional context. While this is my first time engaging directly with the contemporary literary scene, I have had a range of experiences working in different media in my native tongues of English, French and Spanish, whether as an editorial intern, writer or research assistant.
My primary functions at Substance Books include expanding the company’s network among authors writing in French and Spanish, monitoring online writing and publishing groups, searching association databases, researching local literary events, and researching and maintaining webrings. I am also offering my editing services, available to Substance Network members at an exclusive price. My role at Substance Books Inc. is primarily to research different sources to find new members for the network and to help organize and participate in events that will spread the word of how great a tool Substance Books Inc. is for Independent / Small Press Publishers. Also, being the creative type with a gift for problem solving, I am charged with the task of coming up with ideas to enhance the benefits of the network.
